Our Ethos
Our Ethos is the foundation of everything we do. They guide our mission to empower all bodies to confidently exist and take up space in the world. They shape our approach to the intersectional feminist community we are building, and inspire the curation of our offerings.
Community
Building community is an act of resistance in a culture that promotes individualism over interdependence.
We commit to nurturing a sense of belonging, mutual responsibility, and collective care within our community.
We aren’t meant to go it alone!
Self-love
Self-love is a radical act in a world that constantly seeks to diminish our worth and erode our confidence.
We commit to supporting you on your self-love journey. Self-love is a powerful tool for social change that drives a more compassionate, inclusive, and equitable world.
All-bodies
Centering all-bodies challenges the harmful cultural conditioning that prioritizes some bodies and shames the rest.
We commit to creating an inclusive environment where all bodies feel welcome, supported, and free. The time has come to dismantle the Western idea that yoga is only for certain body types and abilities.
The Studio
Full Bodied Yoga is a new yoga studio located in Portland’s vibrant Central Eastside.
Full Bodied Yoga is more than a studio, it’s a space for coming home to yourself.
Guided by our commitments to Community, Self-Love, and All-Bodies, we are building a space where everyone is empowered to confidently exist and take up space in the world.
Bathed in natural light, held by high ceilings, and grounded by amethyst-infused reclaimed redwood floors, our studio offers a sanctuary where practice becomes both an anchor and an unfolding.
From the gentle embrace of restorative yoga to the steady rhythm of vinyasa flow, the mindful strength of mat Pilates to the deep stillness of yin, our offerings meet you exactly where you are.
Come as you are. Leave feeling whole.
Our intention is to work towards collective liberation in everything we do.
We believe that decolonizing our minds and our practice, a lifelong process of learning and unlearning, is essential to the well-being of ourselves, our communities, and our planet. We are committed to walking this path alongside you. Join us in exploring these vital ideas through connection, conversation, and workshops.
As fellow students in this work of decolonization, we aren’t always going to get things right the first time.
Perfection, itself a tool of colonization, is an unhelpful construct that gets in the way of our growth. What we will always do, is continue to do better as we know better, and we extend that same grace to you, as we collectively move towards liberation.
We believe it’s our responsibility to challenge the ways Western culture has appropriated and distorted yoga, often reducing it to a fitness routine.
In our classes, we honor yoga’s roots by integrating Sanskrit, the original language of the practice, and centering its deeper purpose beyond the physical. Our approach to cueing and class design is anti-hierarchical: every expression of a pose is valid and enough.
We welcome you as you are, in your unique, ever evolving body. While the physical practice (Asana) is a meaningful part of what we offer, it is always taught within the broader text of the Eight Limbs of Yoga, respecting the tradition’s full depth and intention.
Join us at our fresh new studio in the heart of Portland!
